Ask

You can ask Dr. Marty Klein anything, well anything about sex and relationships. So I dropped Marty the following email:

Dear Marty,

Although I am just recently married, I'm worried about contracting the seven year itch, I've heard friends and colleagues talking about it, and it seems that it can only be caught when you're married. How should I avoid catching this affliction?

Regards
stu

I'm hoping that Marty can clear this up for me, but if you have have a question about sexuality, loving, or partnering, why not ask Dr. Marty

Doff your cap to Joel of rathergood.com, who has singlehandly disproved the theory that students are wasting society's and their own time and money by creating the truly wonderful gakattack.

American Pyscho

I read American Pyscho a few years ago; it's a strangely compelling book, if a bit horrible. Anyway, I have a bad memory when it comes to remembering specifics from situations, I reckon I'd be terrible as a Politician, cause I would forget the details of conversations that I had three years ago, infact it always blows me away when these people can phone into crimewatch and remember details from something that happened years ago. But I digress, I bought the dvd of American Pyscho and watched it at the weekend, and there is a scene in there that I don't remember from the book, where they are comparing business cards. It's a funny scene cause people are so up there arses when it comes to business cards. Me, I'm going to get a steel one...nah, beat that.

Who ate all the pies?

I like pies, they are good. So I'm a bit gutted that I missed National Pie Day, because the way to celebrate looks mighty fine, heres a selection of suggested pie activities:

Eat pie, Make pie, Share pie, Hold a pie night, Hold a pie-making contest, Have kids compete in pie-making, pie poetry and pie art contests, Pass along pie memories, Eat more pie, Do pie stuff, Sing pie songs, read pie books, quote pie poems, make pie charts.

Now I'm sad that pie heritage is slowly fading, so if anyone would like to pass on their pie memories to me, email ihaveapiememorythatistoogoodtokeeptomyself@fatskier.com

Back to School

Blimey, learning a language at my age is not to be advised. Yesterday I had my first German lesson for quite a while, as the teacher sat and talked to me, I could comprehend what she said, but when I came to talk the words were just not there! Its just practice, but its such a bloody awkward language...

Anyway I understood enough, my new teacher is from the old east Berlin, and she thinks the internet is the way forward, so she learnt html and made her own site. So why don't you have a go at experiencing the agony of learning German?

1st Year

Channel 4 are running a major photography competition to find an image that best defines Britain at the beginning of the 21st Century. Photos will be judged in five categories: Home, Work, Play, Beauty and Fame. You can enter a maximum of three images. They will showing the entries in a gallery, so I'm going to be flicking through my digital compositions, choosing the best to upload...I should have a few for the beauty category.

Codename Ginger, fancy getting a $250,000 advance for a book that nobody knows anything about the subject?

The book will be written by a journalist about an secret invention by a guy called Dean Kamen. His previous inventions include something called the Ibot, a six-wheeled robotic wheel chair that can climb stairs, go off road, and raise its user to eye-level with a person standing up.

So what is Codename Ginger? anyones guess, it won't be revealed until 2002, but according to Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com, its a "product so revolutionary, you'll have no problem selling it."

Party political broadcast

I like Mark Thomas, he has always made me laugh with his blend of humour and activism. For the KLF watchers out there, you may have been seen twentythree.co.uk that sent everyone off to a discussion board on some shopping site. Well it appears that the same guy is behind the long running unofficial Mark Thomas site.

Is there a connection? I dunno...

Great balls of beer

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I was quite keen on being an astronaut. Although i got put off in later years, not by the training required, but by having to eat dried food and not being able to drink beer...until now. Suddenly being an astronaut is a viable option again.

Silly Ma

Spent the weekend trying to do a few cultural things, saw the slouching tigger film which was pretty fantastic. Then blew my mind with a trip to the natural history museum on sunday. Do not go there if you don't like kids, thousands of the blighters...running and screaming in different directions.
